The UAR Oceania Asia Network
Supporting communication about animal research across Asia
The UAR Oceania Asia Network brings together life science organisations across Asia that are committed to improving how they communicate about the use of animals in scientific research.
Animal research remains essential to advances in medicine, veterinary science, public health and environmental science. At the same time, research organisations are increasingly expected to explain clearly how and why animals are used, and how high standards of animal welfare are maintained.
Across Asia, many institutions are seeking practical ways to demonstrate responsible research practices and engage constructively with the public. The Asia Network provides a forum where organisations can share experience, learn from international best practice, and develop effective approaches to communication about animal research.
The Network is part of Understanding Animal Research Oceania (UAR Oceania), an independent non-profit organisation based in Australia. UAR Oceania supports research organisations across Oceania to communicate openly and accurately about their use of animals in scientific research.
Through the Asia Network, member organisations can connect with peer institutions across the region, access specialist expertise in communication about animal research, and demonstrate leadership in responsible science.
Many organisations involved in the Network hold or are working towards internationally recognised standards of animal care and welfare, including AAALAC International accreditation, which is widely respected across the global life sciences community.
Over time, the Network will represent a growing community of organisations across Asia that are committed to high standards of animal welfare, responsible scientific research, and clear public communication.
